What is Tumoni?
Tumoni is a digital financial technology platform designed to make everyday financial services simpler and more accessible for people in the United States and their families abroad.
We focus on accelerating financial inclusion and providing faster, more affordable ways to send money from the U.S. to Central America.
Where is Tumoni available?
Tumoni is currently available to people living in the United States or Nicaragua. We’re actively working to expand into additional Central American countries, including Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras.
What is Monitag?
A Monitag is your unique Tumoni username. It makes sending and receiving money with other Tumoni users simple and secure, without needing to share personal details like your phone number or bank account information.
You can view and copy your Monitag from your profile on the app’s home screen, making it easy to share when receiving payments.
Once you choose a Monitag, it can’t be changed, so be sure to select one you’re comfortable using long term.
How is Tumoni different from other money transfer services?
Tumoni doesn’t work like traditional money transfer services. It operates as a closed-loop system, where both sides use the app: the sender and the recipient.
By keeping the transfer entirely within Tumoni, we eliminate intermediaries and delays, enabling instant, fee-free transfers.
Tumoni Benefits
U.S.-based Tumoni customers receive a complimentary VisaⓇ debit card linked directly to their Tumoni account, enabled by TAB Bank. This account allows for free local transfers and free cross-border transfers to other Tumoni users in Central America, making it easy and affordable to send money within the Tumoni ecosystem. Customers can also conveniently add and withdraw funds at retail locations and ATMs across the U.S.
Is Tumoni a Bank? Is my money safe?
Tumoni is a digital financial services company, not a bank. Banking services are provided through our partner, TAB Bank, a regulated financial institution in the United States.
Your funds are held in accounts at TAB Bank, not directly by Tumoni. We work closely with our bank partner and follow strong security, compliance, and operational standards designed to help protect your money and personal information.
