About the position

Tumoni is looking for a meticulous and proactive Quality Assurance Engineer to join our growing engineering team. In this pivotal role, you will be the guardian of product quality, owning the end-to-end testing strategy for our core backend API and our native iOS and Android mobile applications. This role requires a unique blend of strong API testing skills, a keen eye for detail in mobile user experiences, and the ability to work closely with both frontend and backend teams. You will be responsible for creating and maintaining robust, automated, and manual testing processes to ensure our users receive a seamless and reliable experience every time.

What you will do at Tumoni

  • API Quality Ownership: Design, write, and execute extensive functional, regression, and integration tests for our backend API using our internal testing framework
  • Mobile Application Testing: Develop, maintain, and execute comprehensive QA procedures for our native iOS and Android mobile applications
  • Documentation & Collaboration: Maintain and expand on our technical documentation, and proactively communicate API features, changes, and testing strategies to the frontend development team
  • Defect Management: Meticulously identify, document, and track defects using our bug tracking system (e.g., Linear), providing clear, concise, and reproducible steps to facilitate rapid resolution by the development team‍
  • Technical Compliance: Work with our compliance team to ensure that the API enforces relevant rules at the API level

Requirements for the role:

  • Experience: 3+ years of professional experience in a Software Quality Assurance (QA) or similar engineering role, with a focus on API and mobile application testing
  • API & Data Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to review and understand REST APIs and complex JSON data structures
  • Tooling: Hands-on experience with API testing tools like Postman or similar HTTP clients, and familiarity with industry-standard bug tracking systems (e.g., Linear, Jira)
  • Documentation: Proven ability to write clear, concise, and comprehensive technical documentation (e.g., API specifications, test plans, and procedures)
  • Testing Fundamentals: Strong understanding of QA methodologies, testing best practices, and calculating effective test case coverage
  • Communication: Verbal and written proficiency in English

Preferred qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Java or JavaScript (or another programming language)
  • Prior experience in developing or contributing to a functional API automation framework.
  • Experience with performance or security testing is a plus.
